The recent form of the Blues has been pretty inconsistent. Out of the last 6 matches, Chelsea has managed to win only 3. Five of those six matches were against the comparatively weaker teams and Chelsea should have won those matches. First, The Blues suffered an unexpected defeat against Newcastle United.

However, after that defeat, they bounced back with a fine performance against Wigan Athletic. But, in their next match against Sparta Prague, they again struggled. However, they won against Sparta by 1-0, but, they made a lot of mistakes in that match.

In their last match against Manchester City, the performance of the Blues was again quite poor and they got beaten comprehensively by 2-0.

Talking to the reporters after the match against City, Ivanovic admitted that his team hasn’t played outstanding football in the last few games.

Ivanovic said, “We have been inconsistent off late and it’s really a worry for us. We can’t afford to lose games at this stage of the league. It’s a very important stage and if we remain being inconsistent, we would not finish within top four. We need to raise the level of our game; that’s for sure.”

“We had some tough times in the middle of the last season as well, but, we had bounced back beautifully and had finished the season on a high. Hopefully, we would manage to do the same thing in this season as well.”

Chelsea’s next match will be a FA Cup encounter against Middlesbrough on Wednesday at The Riverside Stadium.
