Florent Malouda unhappy with Deafeat in League

Former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda was unable to prevent Metz from suffering yet another defeat in the league.

The experienced former French international scored in the 3-1 defeat against Olympic Marseille, who have been one of the strongest teams in the French league this season. He scored just three minutes after Metz had conceded. However, Marseille proved that they had the resilience to get victories even during the toughest matches. Ayew scored just before the hour mark while an injury time goal from Payet made things safe for Marseille. They retain the top spot in the French Ligue One.

Metz, meanwhile, have been slipping down the table for the last few weeks. The form has gone terribly wrong since the 3-2 win over Caen at the start of November. Since then, they have taken only one point from five league matches. They are still closer to getting into the top of the table primarily because of the impressive form shown during the months of August and September. Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa was not entirely happy with the performance of his team. He said that his team were not able to control the match despite playing at home.

“It’s a game where we struggled to play well.Winning, that was necessary; [it] provides satisfaction – more to the result than the manner. In the second half we improved just after the equaliser. At 2-1, the game was balanced until the end.Metz has been in our camp and we counter-attacked. We had dangerous actions but our way of playing was not clear. We managed to have counter-attacks in the first half but we lost the ball too much in the middle,” said Bielsa. After a spell with Turkish club Trabzonspor, Malouda moved to Metz at the start of the season on a free transfer.
